Sr Dr. Hasnanywati Hassan has chartered a distinct career path as a senior lecturer and was later appointed as a Chairman of Quantity Surveying programme and Chairman of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia Northern Branch (RISMNB) and Council Member of RISM in the same year. In January 2016 she was appointed as a Cluster Chair of Economics and Construction.

After holding a position as a Senior Lecturer for 3 years, she was then appointed as Chairman of the Quantity Surveying Programme where the degree of responsibility include teaching, research and administrative aspects covering implementing new ideas, obtaining accreditation status from three professional bodies i.e. Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS), formulating budgeting, distribution of workloads and other areas of human resources that also include students affairs. She has published close to 40 articles in national and international journals and book chapters and has secured research grants at the university and national levels. Nationally, she has secured grants from the Ministry of Higher Education and National Real Estate Research Coordinator (NAPREC) under the Valuation Department.

In January 2016, she was appointed as Chair for Economics and Construction Cluster aligned with the School of Housing Building and Planning’s restructuring policy to merge all its seven programmes. She is responsible for managing two programmes i.e. Quantity Surveying and Construction Management. Some of her roles and responsibilities as Cluster Chair is to coordinate collaboration between the respective academic programmes by creating new courses i.e. Building Information Modelling (BIM) and sharing teaching workloads for new courses, merging of exiting similar/related courses. Apart from collaboration, she is responsible to coordinate administrative tasks relating to the respective clusters i.e. academic time table of various programmes, space allocation, plan, coordinate career talks, assisting Dean and Deputy Deans in various administrative tasks and developing niche areas between clusters.

Whilst in RISMNB from July 2014- June 2015, she had approximately 500 professional members in her helm comprising of Land Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Estate Valuers & Agencies and Building Surveyors from three different states in Northern region namely Penang, Kedah and Perlis. She was the youngest Chairman to ever hold the position and carried such responsibilities in the surveying affairs locally and internationally. An inaugural technical visit to Langkawi Island, Langkawi Authority Development (LADA) and other development sites in Langkawi i.e. Perdana Quay and Telaga Harbour was successfully carried out. She also successfully undertook the follow-up visit to the orphanage, Teratak Rahmat in Perlis during Ramadhan month to replenish RISM’s library with more quality books and spend some quality time with the orphanages.

Prior joining HBP, she was involved in various construction projects throughout Malaysia and rendered her consultancy services through construction of a number of education buildings i.e schools, colleges and universities, laboratories, religious buildings, army camps, army quarters, renovation and extension works, rehabilitation, refurbishment, Penang International Airport extension and upgrading works, private residential and public housing.

She wears many hats as a women in a day. A mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a cook, a cluster chair and perceive herself as a creative and well-balanced person.
