The Quantity Surveying programme in the school of Housing, Building and Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia was first programme introduced in the academic session 1999/2000. This programme is dynamic and comprehensive due to the exposure and appreciation of other related fields like Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Planning and Interior Design. This exposure produce graduates equipped with broader knowledge, yielding more confidence and higher awareness of other fields. The aim of the programme is to equip graduates with knowledge that will enable them to pursue professionalism in this discipline and to be a registered quantity surveyor. It also offers an education which is recognised globally. In line with this commitment, the programme has full local recognition status obtained from the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and accreditation with the prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Pacific Association of Chartered Surveyors (PAQS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), allowing for global recognition and unlimited opportunities.  In the past as well as currently, the programme has accepted students from Mauritius, China and Kazakhstan. Conversely local students are also being employed abroad.

Pengambilan pelajar baharu melalui corak kemasukan USM+1 adalah saluran khas kemasukan pelajar bagi memberi peluang kepada calon yang mempunyai kelayakan akademik yang cemerlang tetapi tidak mendapat tawaran program yang diminati melalui permohonan UPU untuk melanjutkan pengajian yang menjadi pilihan.

Melalui saluran ini, 49 program pengajian dari pelbagai bidang ditawarkan kepada pemohon yang berminat mengikuti pengajian bagi kemasukan semester 1 dan 2 setiap sidang akademik.

Program yang ditawarkan melalui USM+1 ialah program yang dilaksanakan secara full fees atau yuran penuh tanpa subsidi. Pemohon perlu memahami terma dan syarat kemasukan serta caj yuran pengajian yang dikenakan sebelum mengemukakan permohonan.

Program Ukur Bahan mempunyai akreditasi daripada 3 badan antarabangsa iaitu Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) dan Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) serta badan tempatan iaitu Lembaga Juruukur Bahan Malaysia. Akreditasi yang diperolehi membolehkan para graduan kita untuk bekerja di Malaysia serta luar negara. Program ini juga mengajar menggunakan Outcome Based Education dan blended learning yang mana pelajar diberi tugasan yang mendedahkan mereka kepada projek sebenar yang boleh meningkatkan kemahiran pelajar. Program ini juga diajar oleh pensyarah‐pensyarah yang berdedikasi dan mempunyai pengalaman dalam industri serta penyelidikan disamping pensyarah jemputan antarabangsa. Pengambilan pelajar dalam bilangan yang terhad juga membolehkan interaksi yang lebih baik di antara pelajar dan pensyarah. Kursus‐kursus yang diajar dalam program ini merangkumi Pengurusan Kos dan Kewangan, Pengurusan Kontrak dan Undang‐undang, Pengurusan Perolehan dan Penenderan, Proses dan Teknologi Pembinaan, Pengukuran Kuantiti Berkomputer dan Penjanaan Jadual Bahan, BIM dan Pembangunan Hijau dan Lestari. Perhatian khas juga diberikan dalam pembangunan kemahiran insaniah seperti komunikasi lisan, pemikiran kritis, kerja berpasukan dan berdikari. Tujuan utama adalah untuk membina graduan yang penuh keyakinan untuk bekerja di dalam dan luar negara.

The Construction Project Management programme in the School of Housing, Building and Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia is designed for students who are interested in management part of the built environment, specifically in overseeing construction projects. This programme aims to develop hard and soft management skills, and preparing students to become future leaders and managers of construction projects.

Undergraduate Programmes

At HBP, we offer seven undergraduate programmes with unique curricula towards ensuring our graduates are industry ready. Urban and Regional Planning Undergraduate Programme is a professional programme, accredited by the Board of Town Planners Malaysia and Malaysian Qualification Agency. This 4- year programme aim to produce knowledgable graduates with a focus on transdisciplinary approach and technical proficiency which empowering them to tackle challenges in the field of urban and regional planning using sustainable approaches and a global perspective.

Subjects offered in this Programme cover theories, and technical and practical aspects related to physical, social, economic and environmental planning. The curriculum includes planning studios, lectures, academic visits, industrial training, research project, case studies, collaborative learning and stakeholder engagement. Urban and Regional Planning undergraduate programme at USM prepares the future talents and skills to meet the industry requirements especially in ethical practice, planning laws and regulations, technical department requirements, feasibility and market study, and development plans at federal, state and local levels.
