Pusat Pengajian Perumahan, Bangunan & Perancangan | School of Housing, Building and Planning |
Programme Code : (US6582003)
The Building Engineering Technology programme in the School of Housing, Building and Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia is a multi discipline programme incorporating the technical aspects of engineering and building services. The courses in the programme are similar to many basic civil engineering subjects in which students are exposed to construction and building services such as structure, building materials, land survey, building infrastructure, fire prevention and fire safety, air conditioning and mechanical ventilation, transportation in buildings as well as electrical and lighting systems.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)
To nurture knowledgeable and technically competent graduates who are able to solve problems in the discipline of Building Engineering Technology for sustainable development
To nurture graduates with good leadership qualities and communicate effectively, work collaboratively in teams, to achieve engineering solutions that align with societal needs and values
To nurture graduates with a global mindset, proficient in research and committed to lifelong learning
Graduate able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation to defmed and applied engineering procedures, processes, systems or methodologies
Graduate able to identify, formulate, research literature and analyse broadly-defined engineering problems using principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
Graduate able to design solutions for broadly-defined engineering technology problems and contribute to the design of systems, components or processes to meet desired engineering society needs, public health and safety; and environmental considerations.
Graduate able to conduct investigations of broadly-defined problems, research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
Graduate able to select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to broadly-defined engineering problems, with an understanding of the limitations.
Graduate able to demonstrate understanding of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the engineering technologies practice; and solutions to broadly-defined engineering problems
Graduate able to understand the impact of engineering technology solutions of broadly defined engineering problems in societal and environmental context and demonstrate knowledge and needs for sustainable development.
Graduate able to understand and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering technology practice;
Graduate have the ability to function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse technical teams and in multi-disciplinary settings.
Graduate able to communicate effectively on broadly-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations and give and receive clear instructions
Graduate able to demonstrate understanding of engineering management principles and economic decision-making to be applied to ones' own work as a member and leader to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments;
Graduate able to recognize the need for and could engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of engineering technology.
