Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development

CONGRATULATIONS Dr. Ruhizal Roosli and Dr. Siti Salwa Mohd Ishak for winning the 3rd prize of the Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development. The winners of the award were announced during the 'Knowledge for Sustainable Development: The Research-Policy Nexus' [#K4SD] Conference in Bonn World Conference Center, Germany, in October 2019. This award was launched by Global Development Network with the generous support from the World Bank and the Ministry of Finance, Japan. It recognizes excellence in policy-oriented research, supports research capacity development of researchers in developing countries and funds innovative social development projects benefiting marginalized groups in the developing world. The annual competition has a new, relevant theme every year. The winner of the first prize is from the Philippines who won US$ 30,000, the second prize of US$10,000 went to a researcher from India. The third prize of US$5,000 was won by Dr. Ruhizal Roosli from Malaysia, for the project of 'The role of practitioners in web-based communication for post-disaster reconstruction projects in southeast Asia.' Co-researcher for this project is Dr. Siti Salwa Mohd Ishak who is also from the same institution (School of Housing, Building & Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia).
